the sandinista BMX project
Kingdom Bike kicks out the jams and starts a project to make a revolutionary BMX in 2010!
I've needed a quality BMX in my life ever since my mum decided they we're far to dangerous for me to ride, sometime in the late 70's about the time of the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua infact.
We've already got some very slick 20 inchers' like Alex Stock (top picture) and James McKnight in our Kingdom Bike Project, but we decided to get a BMX pro involved as well so after we've made a few frames they can be race tested to see if it can really bring home the bacon.
Our BMX pro comes in the shape of Danny Sørensen, Danish pro BMX racer regularily on the podium of Danish national BMX races, I met Danny in Morzine last Summer and as well as being a seriously butter smooth rider he's pretty laid back geezer.
Ontop of this BMX skills he's also ' fast as fuck' on a DH bike, racing in Denmark, Sweden and France. Nobody better to join the Kingdom Bike Project and help us develop a mint BMX and then go on and win some international BMX races with.
Danny's top 3 BMX's look a bit like this so expect to see some influences from these creeping into our Kingdom design, obviously not copying we prefer to call in inspirational homaging.
Danny and Al's input over the next few weeks will shape our perfect BMX. We haven't decided on a material yet and as Kingdom Bikes is NOT JUST TITANIUM this may be our first venture into new materials.
So watch this space and you'll see the design unfold into Danny's BMX, Kingdom Bike Project in action. |
