It’s competition time…in fact this is the first competition we’ve ever run so let’s see how it goes, it might be our last.
The prize is 1 of 5 pairs of Royal Racing Blast Gloves, we’re giving away these partly as we really like them but also to mark that we’re now stocking Royal clothing in our eShop.
The competition is easy and it’s all about you and your gloves. Your treasured pair of riding mittens that hold a special place in your heart, the gloves that you’ll never throw away, the ones that saved your life…
To win a new pair of Royal Racing Blast gloves we want to hear the story behind your treasure gloves (plus we want to see a picture of them as well.) The best 5 stories emailed into us will win.
To start things rolling, here’s four of my treasured paw warmers and the story behind them….
1. POC. A mistaken purchase from CRC, I didn’t want these but I couldn’t be arsed to send them back. First ride in, I front ended into a tree and smacked my hand straight into a rock at knockout punch speed. The little armored knuckle pad literally took all the force and saved me from an A&E. Best product I never wanted. Since then dissolved due to over use…

2. Gore. A transitional pair of gloves. My first ever pair of long finger gloves. Before this I wore fingerless (cough to excuse myself) gloves. This also marks a subtle transition in my life from riding in lycra (cough) to baggy shorts….I still remember the piss taking I got from the ‘lycra’ gang about these…never exposed my fingertips on a bike since…
3. Petzel. The best mountain bike freeride gloves ever. Purchased in Finale Ligure after a brain failure in packing any other gloves. These gloves have out performed EVERY other MTB glove I’ve ever owned and saved my hands from slams countless time. I will never part with these little leather rapists mittens…Also available in black for those allergic to tan..
4. Royal. My current trail glove of choice and new best friend after the SSEC11 last weekend. Rigid forks are unforgiving after about 20k and these became my perfect partner on the bike despite not much padding. No blisters just a good grip on various bottles of Duvel…
OK you get the idea. So start sending in pics of your treasured gloves along with the story behind them to competition@kingdombike.com, and we’ll do the rest…
